Potatoes - production and consumption

Potatoes became a staple food for large sections of the population in the 19th century. Its nutritional value as well as its proneness to pest diseases and vermin made it an object of interest beyond the farming population. Filmmakers, therefore, not only documented their cultivation in the field, but also their breeding methods, their treatment with pesticides and, eventually, their transformation into an industrially exploitable fast food.
