Fruit processing and consumption

The downright seasonality of fruit production has provoked a great variety of processing methods in order to make them preservable for human and animal consumption in times when harvesting was over. The art of drying, sweetening or sterilizing was often as attractive to filmmakers as planting and harvesting activities in agriculture. The process of distilling which transformed eatable fruits into drinkable alcohol was of particular interest to them. Not surprisingly, the alcohol board in Switzerland commissioned dozens of films in order to explain their aims, activities and the legal basis of the alcohol policy.
