Animals and men as working companions

Working animals are not a phenomena of the pre-industrial era. They played a crucial role in the mechanisation of agricultural production and in the carrying-trade up to the middle of the 20th century. A variety of films illustrate how horses, mules, donkeys, cows, cattle, oxen, breeding bulls and dogs were working under the tutelage of men, women and children in many European countries.
