A 100-acre holding, typical of farms in the West Riding. Caption detailing farmer, who is John Stott, who aims to make 200 tonnes of silage each year, using the baling method with the help of two youths. Opening scene of an unlined silage pit and farmer. A tractor and trailer reverse into the pit. The farmer loads the silage bales onto the trailer of the tractor, which is a converted harrow frame. The silage is unloaded by two labourers and fed to the cows. Scene of the trailer being demonstrated; it takes 20 bales and is an economical method of collection.
